CK's death and aftermath bears a striking resemblence to that of Sergei Kirov in the 1930s Soviet Union.
I know that the Google AI Overview isn't the greatest source, but it's very concise and covers the major relevant points.
Sergei Kirov was created a martyr by Soviet propaganda following his assassination in 1934, a role Joseph Stalin used as a pretext for launching the Great Purge
. While the Soviet regime portrayed Kirov's death as a tragedy caused by internal enemies, historical evidence suggests that Stalin himself likely orchestrated the killing to eliminate a political rival and consolidate his power.
The official narrative
Assassination: On December 1, 1934, Kirov, the popular head of the Communist Party in Leningrad, was shot and killed by a disgruntled party member named Leonid Nikolayev.
Martyrdom: Immediately after the murder, the Soviet government moved to sanctify Kirov.
His funeral was a state event, and his ashes were interred in the Kremlin Wall.
The city of Kirov and numerous other institutions and streets were named in his honor.
Official propaganda celebrated him as a hero of the working class who was killed by counter-revolutionary forces.
The political exploitation
Stalin used Kirov's engineered martyr status to justify a massive wave of repression.
Purge justification: Stalin claimed that Nikolayev was part of a larger conspiracy involving political opponents, including former Bolshevik leaders Grigory Zinoviev and Lev Kamenev.
Show trials: The ensuing trials led to the execution of Nikolayev and alleged accomplices. It also set the stage for the infamous Moscow Trials and the subsequent Great Purge, during which hundreds of thousands of people were executed or sent to forced-labor camps.
Elimination of rivals: The manufactured conspiracy provided Stalin with the perfect excuse to eliminate any remaining opposition within the party and further cement his own dictatorial power.

Long-term impact
The Kirov assassination and the political theater that followed had a profound and lasting impact on Soviet history.
It served as the "catalyst" for the Great Purge, ushering in a brutal period of mass repression.
The event fundamentally transformed the Soviet political landscape, giving Stalin uncontested power and solidifying his totalitarian control.
I put "sergei kirov martyr" into the Google search engine.

I don't subscribe to any Disney owned streaming services,
but I did carry out my own little act of cancelation today.
Don't know if it did any good, but when I saw a video from ABC News come up on my YouTube feed, I hit the button saying I don't want to see anything else from that channel. I'll do the same if I see anything else come up that's affiliated with them.
Some independently sourced Discord posts from the Charlie Kirk killer and members of his group,
and interviews with a longtime friend.
This is an independent journalist who independently obtained access to the material. Well worth reading IMO, as there's no a lot out there that hasn't been filtered through official channels that have an agenda.

I think the main thing thats caused so much confusion is that he was always generally apolitical for the most part, the friend told me. That's the big thing, he just never really talked politics which is why it's so frustrating.
The picture that emerges bears little resemblance to the media version. Robinson, I am told, though quiet, was a well-liked person with a supportive family. The friend group who he interacted with on Discord, far from some kind of militia camp or Antifa bunker its been portrayed as, represented a range of different political views but mostly talked video games.

What even is a "leftist ideology"?
Such a thing doesn't exist. It's a label that could mean anything, it's not a descriptive term.
Has he embraced Marxism-Leninism? Stalinism? Trotskyism? FDR's New Deal? Has he been reading the complete works of Noam Chomsky? Did he murder someone in the name of universal healthcare?
Until they at least start saying what the ideology is instead of throwing around meaningless catch phrases, I'm not buying any of it.
Here is an example of what got unleashed by the RW reaction to Charlie Kirk's killing. By another RWer.
They want us all dead.

People on this site need to get over their naive belief that there are any limits at all to what Trump and his cronies
are capable of. We need to look at the worst regimes in history and realize that these people seek to emulate the worst aspects of them. And there's very little left in the way of institutions or safeguards that are going to stop them.
Engineering assassinations to create martyrs, whip people up into a murderous frenzy, and create pretexts for mass repression and political violence, are all par for the course, and many, many historical examples can be found. Don't keep holding on to the idea that "it can't happen here".
